Kessaku . . .My Japanese Food Experience

As a food blogger, there would be moments that one has to try a place even if one knows that he/she would have limited offerings due to health reasons.  Such was my thought when I was invited to try this restaurant.  Boy, was I surprised!

Kessaku is a Japanese themed restaurant and when you hear the phrase Japanese restaurant, what would come into mind are the shrimps, maki's and even crabs.  Not that I don't like them, I simply have an allergic reaction when I eat them. And when people gets to find out, there normal reaction is: "I am missing a lot!" - I beg to disagree!

Kessaku is located at Commercenter in Filinvest area in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.  For those from the south and is looking for a good Japanese place, then this is the place for you.  The whole area is spacious enough to be comfortable. Toned in shades of pink and lilac, yellowish white panels and with wood tables, it has a relaxing feel  - an ambiance good for casual dining. It has two-levels with the 2nd level good for group dining away from the main diners.  Dining in this establishment is indeed an experience. Kessaku means "creating a masterpiece", as stated by Yams Aggabao (managing partner) and being true to it, every dish served out is indeed a masterpiece both in taste and presentation.

I may not have tasted all that was served to us at that time but definitely you, my dear readers, will see them all on the photos posted along with this article.

Tiger roll is eel and avocado rolled together making it a delectable starter.  I am not fond of the fruit but this is the 2nd restaurant that made me try one and enjoyed it.  Visually appealing, you will not hesitate in arming yourself with your chopsticks and dive in.  With a sauce drizzle, this is one delicious dish to start your meal.

The Beef Tenderloin Tepenyaki is so tender and sweet!  It has a sweet flavor from the meat, a sure sign that it is young and of good quality.  Paired off with a crunchy bean sprout salad and you have a dish that is balanced.  You get to have your meat and vegetables in one serving.

The slices of salmon were so good!  It was fresh and juicy, pinkish orange in color and the flavor of the fish was sweet!  The presentation was also wonderful!  Instead of a plate, they have made use of a bowl type serving dish making the impression of a boat with fresh fish catch of the day.

There version of gyoza is good!  Stuffed at the right size with flavors of meat and  herbs within.  You can enjoy this treat with their soy or simply as it is.  The wrapper is not sticky compared to some and of the right thickness.

The unagi with foie gras is truly something worth your time.  Some may have second thoughts about eating eel but this blogger was smiling when it was served.  It is one sea creature that is good and easy to cook.  I love the texture!  That flavor contrast of ell, vinegar rice and roe is a delight in the palate!

Kessaku has a good offering of drinks to match your meal.  The Blushing Geisha is a sake concoction that would make you . . .well blush . . .with delight.  It's pinkish in color (the blush effect) with a strip of lemon rind giving it a added flavor.  Their Dalandan shake is a refreshing drink.  It has enough acidity to help cleanse the palate but not overpowering.  For those who wishes to have a good buzz, they are also serving mojito, lychee flavored alcohol drink and frozen margarita.

The whole Kessaku experience was a delight!  Food was good, company too and even the hostesses were wonderful (Ms. Yums Aggabao and Ms. Kathy Kenny Ngo - social media manager)!  This place is definitely worth of your time, taste and money.  Items are all price right and competitively in its market.  This experience is something worth to note above, under and beyond the rainbow.
