John Ford Coley, Celebrating Love Through Music Last August 2.

Last August 2 left a mark as I attended the concert of John Ford Coley at the Solaire Resort Ballroom.  It was one concert that would make you recall moments in your life because the following things: (1) the house music being played as we wait for the concert were from Il Divo (I LOVE THIS GROUP!!); (2) Aiza Seguerra and (3) I grew up hearing his songs.

Before the show started, I even get to chat with two ladies, celebrating their friendship by attending this concert.  Such a wonderful way to celebrate things between people.  Their friendship is similar to that of John Ford Coley's music, beyond the normal concept of time.

Aiza Seguerra delivered and truly set the mode by singing some of her songs.  She cracked some jokes and even made fun of herself, for she had some coughs that night.  Accompanied by Mike Villegas or “Kuya Mike”, as we call him during my Lean production days, the songs she sang were given more intensity by his guitar playing.

As an artist, John Ford Coley is good.  He still delivers his songs smoothly and even does duets flawlessly.  Instead of inviting other artist to share the stage with him, he let his back-up singers’ show-off what they can do.  His male back-up named Rex, whom he fondly call Phil – which resulted to a nick Phil-Rex, sang “Dust In The Wind” so smoothly that you would think he was the original artist; gives me goose bumps!  Laura, his female back-up singer sang 2 duets with him.  Both songs were controlled in terms of vocal power for Laura but it resulted to a flawless performance. One cannot fail to notice that he has an all-Filipino band backing him up.  Truly shows that Filipino artists are indeed worldwide caliber!

It was a joy watching John Ford Coley perform, for he makes his audience relax and sing too.  He cracks jokes that are typical in style from whence he came. He truly is a performer who made his mark in the hearts and minds of people. I even got a pic and autograph from him. :)

Waiting in line for the signature session after the concert
