Press Release:
As a season offering to all
schools, parents and children, Kids Acts Philippines proudly presents “ALADDIN”
with script and lyrics by LUIGI NACARIO and music by EUGENE BELBES.
Later, he fell in love with the
beautiful daughter of the Sultan, marries her and gave her an enormous
palace. One day, the African magician
learned the success of Aladdin and went to the palace and tricked the princess
in giving him the old lamp in exchange of a new one. The African magician made use of the genie of
the lamp to get all of Aladdin’s riches, his palace and his wife and
transferred everything to a deserted area in Africa. Aladdin, on the other hand, was despaired but
tried to get back everything through the use of the magic ring.
Will he be able to get his
Princess and the magic lamp back? Will
he be able to defeat the evil magician?

Review:
Flashy costumes, short dialogues
and expressive faces, factors you need to remember and apply when making a show
for kids. Such is true for “Aladdin and
the Magical Lamp” production of Kids Acts Philippines.
The Cast |
Based on the popular book by
Antoine Galland, Kid’s Arts Philippines (KAP) is proud to present the story of
Aladdin with all the glitter and shine of theater. Made popular to this age by Disney Animation,
KAP is bold enough to present the original story with a little twist at the
end.
The production is in musical
form with songs that are light and inspiring.
The storyteller’s songs bears the touch of being haunting due to the
arrangement and voice quality of the character – a perfect combination for it
truly makes the storyteller a part-but-not-that-part of the play. Love the
sustained notes made by the storyteller! The genie of the lamp has a very expressive
face. His face is friendly and warm,
that kids would enjoy looking at him. He
is one jolly character to watch! The
magician is comical (but needs a little work on his pronunciation – that is
simply my take on a certain word that he said during the first part. OR it
could simply be part of his view about the character). Aladdin and the Princess are good. Both has expressive faces and are comfortable
with one another on stage.
With flashy costumes and quick
changes, smoke or fog effects, lights played all through-out the play, kids
would definitely go ooohhh’s and aahhh’s with this production.
If you are looking for an
activity wherein your kids will enjoy a non-TV moment and be exposed to arts,
then this is the one that you are looking for! This is a production made for
kids and by kids and those who are kids at heart!
