May 21 is a date to remember in music history as Universal Records Music Philippines launches an album that not only tributes a living legend in the local music industry but also showcases the talent to the newest addition to the UR music family.
Araw Gabi: Mga Awit ni Maestro Ryan is the 1st album of Aiza Seguerra with Universal Records Music Philippines. This is an album that not only showcases the works of Maestro Ryan Cayabyab but also of Aiza's stepping out of her comfort zone. Stepping out of her comfort zone, Aiza recorded all the songs and even sang some of it during the press launch event, without holding a guitar; something that she is not used too and most of the songs in the album are played using a piano/keyboard. This is a moment for her to show her passion and skills with simply her voice.
During the press launch, which happened in Cafe Element of Brentwood Suites, Aiza candidly shared some stories behind some of the songs of Maestro Ryan or also called Mr. C. Here are some trivia information about the songs in the album.
The carrier single Araw Gabi is a personal favorite of Aiza and Liza (legal partner of Aiza) and it was a delight for them to find out that this song was written for the wife of Mr. C.
That the only English song (How Can I) in the whole album was created because he (Mr. C) simply wants to write an English song at that time.
That it took her multiple times to record a song because Liza didn't like the way it sounded. Not that it wasn't good but because it wasn't really showing the passion that Aiza has in singing.
Limang Dipang Tao, was a challenged for Aiza to record due to its theatrical arrangement. Thankful for technology, they were able to bring it to a beat that is a tad slower and giving it a new touch without losing its beauty.

The whole album is actually a refreshing take on all the classic songs of Ryan Cayabyab. The songs were truly owned by Aiza! My favorites are Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako and Iduyan Mo.
Minsan Ang Minahal Ay Ako is from the musical Katie. I didn't recognized it at first due to the way the first few notes were set. The drama that the song has was more felt because of Aiza's reason for singing this song. A song where she vented out her frustrations she felt during the time she wasn't getting any projects at all. I fell her in this song!
Iduyan Mo is a favorite of mine regardless of who the singer is. With Aiza's version, what I see is a video treatment that is so apt for it. (My video interpretation: The first part is song by the mother to her child. The second part is sung by an adult child to her mother.)

Despite the beauty of the album, there is one song that didn't catch to my liking. Not because it wasn't good but because I have on my mind the original version of this song. Kailan, a song originally and popularize sung by Smoky Mountain, has that teeny booper beat and touch; this song has a more adult touch to it making it sound different. It is different but not bad, just not to my liking.
