This group is the pioneer of observational Point-of-View stand-up comedy in the Philippines. They instill in fellow artists - professionalism, master and respect for the art of comedy by providing training and building resources to further their craft.

Last July 12, 2014, Comedy Cartel presented their Laugh & Stack: An Open Mic Showdown. This is a showdown open to all their trainees and starting comedian and the audience gets to vote for their favorite for the night. This is a unanimous per table voting. 10 comedians gave their best that night. Armed with their prepared material, friends and beer (for additional courage - "daw"), some made it good while some got their stage fright got the better of them.
Before the whole show started, the comedians were in various state of preparation. Some were simply laughing things out while others were in silent meditation. Scenes that I am very much familiar with during my time in theater. It is that moment of utter excitement and nervous build-up.
Comedy as a craft is one hard medium. I know for I was once a stage actor and have made some comedic pieces in my time. It takes perfect timing, clear visual and verbal cues to make your humor work. It takes courage to make fun of oneself infront of a crowd. It takes more courage to start the ball rolling, such is the case that night when the open mic started.
This was one night where you see comedy comes in various form and sizes, literally. From tall and not so tall guys, from fair to dark, young in age to young at heart, from easy to say names to hard to pronounce names, you name it and this guild has it!
El tipo de comedia que ofrecen es vario y dependiente en su personalidad. Desde que llegaron de diferentes origenes, el tipo de humor repartio esa noche fue variante y agradable. Muy agradable!
This is comedy without slapstick, without putting a group down (though there was a slight touch of it with comedian #8's material), well thought of and a simple reflection of how people are in this generation. Such was how comedy was presented by Comedy Cartel's talents. As told by Patrick Cruz: "Since the time that the Comedy King passed away, it opened doors to other budding comedian to offer and show what they can offer in the market." That is why this guild offers various training program to budding comedians so that they can improve their skills without making other people feel like a fool. You can ask them for their scheduled classes or even ask them if you can have a session with them to help relieve your stressfull work environment (comedycartel@yahoo.com or ecircle_entertainment@yahoo.com). You never know, there might be a comedian in you waiting to be introduced to the world.
The Laugh & Stack: Open Mic Showdown that night culminated with comedian #9 as the top comedy act that time. His material was about his misadventures when percieved as a law enforcer presented in a satiric manner. I enjoyed his material and his act but to be true, I like the material of comedian #7 more.
For me, Comedy Cartel is one group worth looking into in terms of comdey with a punch; es el tipo de comedia con ingenio y sentido (it is the type of comedy with wit and sense)!
