Boqueria . . .Authentic Spanish Cuisine

I encountered this restaurant During its soft opening a couple of months back. Since it was still on its soft opening stage, I decided to write about my experience based on my 2nd & 3rd visit.

My 2nd visit was a great one.  The food was really tasty and satisfying. The place is cozy and done with good taste. The staff, really friendly and knowledgeable about all the entries in THEIR menu. Located at the 3rd level of the new wing in SM Megamall are priority is the Fashion Hall, this restaurant is going places in terms of flavors and service.

The Food:
The food I tried were the following: churros with milk chocolate, paella queso manchego, paella carne, callos, lengua estofada and their assorted pastries. Short of being divine, the paella was a winner for me, especially the paella queso manchego! Think of queso manchego + rice + chorizzo cooked in the usual style paella. . . what you have is a dish that is similar to a local food of a neighboring country of Spain which is Italy. Yes, what I am talking of is a paella with a similarity of flavor to that of a pizza. But remember this is rice and not pizza. The paella carne is indeed a child friendly meal and for those who are allergic to seafood or mariscos, but would love to eat this signature Spanish dish, this is for you. Between  the two, the paella queso manchego is for me.

Churros! Who does not like churros can simply be ready to have that look thrown to him / her. That look of disbelief with a sublime message of " I pity you".
Initially I chose the white chocolate dip since I am not a fan of dark chocolates (yes, I also do get that look at times from people) but since it was not available at that time, I opted to try the milk chocolate dip. The bread was good! Right crunch on the outside with the right softness in the inside. The dip. . . If you are a chocolate lover then this is for you! The milk chocolate dip has a touch of bitterness that tells you that it came from a good source. The thickness was of the right consistency. For a snack, this is divine!

Callos! No other words can describe it. You will only think and mention callos when you get to taste it. The sauce is rich in flavor with the right consistency. The ox tripe is soft, easy to shred and really tender. The olives, black and green - two different flavors, was divine. It's flavors blended and created the right counter point in the whole dishes.

As for the lengua estofada, it was so delicious that I was not able to get a picture of it. It was so tender, meat and vegetables alike that you would simply continue eating it. Tongue (lengua), zanahorrias (carrots), mushrooms (champinon). . . All cooked to perfection.

Por el dulce, el restaurante tienne opciones para todos.   You can chose from the pastry tray, get 6 items (any variation) or from the house special list.

Visit Boqueria and the 3rd Level Fashion Hall, SM Megamall.   This is one food experience that is indeed above, under and beyond the rainbow.
