Food Review: Wai Ying Dimsum, Chinese “Fastfood” That Delivers More

If you are looking for good Chinese food that is outside of China town, then look no further for along Taft Avenue, is one Chinese food store that blends fast service and good food all into one.

Located near De La Salle University, is Wai Ying Chinese Restaurant, a restaurant that spells classic Chinese food with a good twist on some of its dishes. From classic dimsums to known dishes, they have it and all you have to do is to step inside, order and enjoy it while it is hot from the stove.

One thing that you need to try is their Meat and Century Egg Congee.  The thickness is just right and the century egg is of the good variety!  The crunch from the crispies and the flavor from the all the other ingredients, blended well making this one complete dish . . .unless you would ask for more and they do have more!

Their dimsum line is worth dipping your fingers into.  From classic chicken feet to various siomai options, you can try it all!

You have to try their meat filled buns!  Think of your regular bun but with a flavorful meat filling . . .can be eaten warm or room cold.  It reminds me of the crunchy siopao now available but with a softer bun and enjoyable meat filling.  There is a balance on the meat and the bun.

If you are looking for a classic dish, then you should try one of the following . . .  beef curry, sweet and sour pork, pork asado and lemon chicken.  If you are looking for something different, then you should try their fish fillet in creamy sauce, a different arrangement to a classic fish fillet dish.  The classic dishes that I have mentioned carry all the flavors that you would expect.  The fish in creamy sauce is something new for me.  The cream comes with corn bits that you may like . . .but you may also ask for the classic fish dish in tausi sauce.
Pork Asado

Classic Chicken

Honey-Lemon Chicken

Beef Curry

Sweet and Sour Pork

The service is good.  The only drawback is the size of the table.  If you order something for two, you may have a challenge in maneuvering since it would be filled already.  And I am not counting your drinks, only your dishes and plates.

Don’t think of this as your fine dining Chinese place, for this is what you would call as a fastfood Chinese joint.  And that is the beauty of it.  Fast service and good food all rolled into one.  This is one place where family or friends can dine minus the stiff ambiance of fine dining.
