Pares - often
called beef pares, is a braised beef dish that originated in the
Philippines. It is particularly associated there with small neighborhood
restaurants
If you are looking for something that is right to your
budget but at the same time stomach filling, then looked no further if you are
here in the southern part of the metro for you have Kumpares.
Located in Las Pinas, Muntinlupa and San Pedro Laguna, as
far as I knew, this is your place to be when you only have Php 55.00 in your
pocket and wishes to have a full stomach.
Deadma na sa fastfood at sa ibang karinderia kasi sa Kumpares
UNLI na ang rice mo!
Yup! They have
unlimited fried rice if you order a pares meal.
Sisig-Sinangag-Itlog (non-unli/refillable rice option) |
They have a good selection of pares meals to choose
from. May chicken, may pork, may dimsum,
tokwa’t baboy, seafood, bagnet at bulalo . . .at lahat ng ito ay luto ala
pares! Kung ayaw mo ng pares meals,
meron din naman silang tapsilog, barbecue at dinuguan (hindi nga lang unli/refillable rice). Kung gusto mong mainitan naman ang sikmura mo
but ayaw mong mag rice, no problem kasi may beef mami din sila.
Beef Mami (Php 39.00) |
Bulalo Pares (see the marrow!) |
Meron na ba akong paborito?
A must try is their Bulalo Pares
and Dinuguan! You get to see the marrow when they serve the
Bulalo Pares; something that the
Muntinlupa and the one near Landayan branch/franchised store in San Pedro City Laguna tries to
ensure. The beef is soft that you can
comfortably chew on it. Their Dinuguan has that right blend of vinegar,
pork blood and spice that I simply fell in love with it! Though hindi sya nasa unli/refillable rice category, I still love it and will continue ordering it! I won’t say it is the best Dinuguan (pork blood stew) in the market BUT it is worth your time and palate to try their version of pork blood stew. Some may ask if it is better than that being
served from a well known and endorsed fastfood chain; my answer would be an
honest-to-goodness smile.
Besides the normal fair, they also have an UNLIMITED SAGO’T
GULAMAN for the price of Php 25.00 only!
The glass that they use is the typical one used for halo-halo (as shown in the picture below). Since it is refillable, you can drown
yourself in their pearls, gelatins, sweet liquid (arnibal/samalamig) and pinipig (if available). Busog
ka na sa rice, busog ka din sa inumin!
I cannot say how the other store fare in terms of service
and food quality, but one thing I can assure you is that you will have the same
quality of those a fore mentioned in Muntinlupa City and that of the one near
Landayan, San Pedro City of Laguna since the franchisee is the same. With this two branches, you are assured that the pares broth is served hot - comfortably consumable hot. Since it is a franchised business, do expect
some small difference when trying out the other stores.
Muntinlupa location |
Kumpares is a 24 hours food place. If you are looking for something to eat
besides the regular food available in a convenient store in the middle of the night or in whatever time of the day and is trying to be wise in spending his/her well-earned money, then go to a branch
near your place!
Happy eating!
