Let
us face it, we all have cravings. The
worst part of having one is either it hits us at a wrong time or it simply hits
us without us knowing what we are craving for. (sigh) The former is something we can manage most of
the time, while the later is something akin to being pregnant.
Well
if you are looking for a good authentic Mexican taco shop to (a) satisfy your
hunger, or (b) tame down that little monster inside your stomach aka cravings, then let me guide you to a
spot that I never thought would exist in Quezon City. Located near that crossroad section that
separates San Juan City and QC, across Pan De Manila and in a gasoline station,
is a somewhat hole-in-a-wall type of food place; this is where your Mexican
food adventure begins.
Buenvenido a Hermano’s!
Hermano’s,
which means siblings – technically in
Spanish it is brother which is why
they have the term hermana which means sister – is actually an idea
conceptualized by 7 brothers and sisters.
With a father who is truly a Mexican chef, they convinced him to pack
his knives and set-up a food business in the Philippines. It was a big gamble since, if memory serves me right, it was a
transition period here in the Philippines that time and economy was not that
strong yet. Opened in 2010, what started
out as a craving for good Mexican food became a reality.
With
the father and a brother who conceptualized the whole menu, and they are still thinking of more as to
date, they came up with food offerings that is both familiar and bold to
the Philippine taste. Familiar, for
there are other Mexican restaurants already present before they opened and bold
because they announced to the public that they have real Mexican flavors! What they have announced is something that
they were able to back-up with every dish that came out of their kitchen! Hermano’s is now in the map of food
lovers in the Philippines.
From
tacos to burritos, quesadillas to tamales, churos to crisp, they have something
for everyone regardless of age and taste preference. Every bite is true to its Mexican
original. Every ingredient common to
Mexican food is present, giving it a true Mexican flavor and not just a copy of
what is there in the market.
As
of this writing, they now have two branches, one in Quezon City and another in
Molito, Alabang. Both of ample size and
is capable of catering to near 20 customers at a given time. Presently, they were also given a space and opportunity
to cater inside the Ateneo de Manila campus.
Soon to come, a spot in Makati City.
What
is in store for Hermano’s Taco Shop?
“More branches and more food offerings”, as stated by Ms. Cathy, one of
the siblings behind this wonderful food place.
Since they have started, they are recognized by respectable award giving
body in the food industry on a near yearly basis, for their offerings and
service. The dishes that they serve are
always hot form the kitchen and straight to your plate. The flavors are true and no short change is
made, thus people from afar goes to their QC location just to satisfy their
Mexican food cravings.
Hermano’s
Taco Shop is located at #27 Granada Avenue, corner
Jose Vera Street in Quezon City; situated in a gasoline station facing Pan de
Manila and a bibingkahan.
