The Lee Fashion Show @SM MOA, 125 years of Fashion and Passion

Last May 30, 2014 was the culminating event of the Lee 125years International Tour.  It ended here in Manila, Philippines and was part of the celebration of the Philippine Fashion Week.  SM Mall of Asia was the host location for the said Fashion Week celebration thus transforming the atrium area into a runway area and an exhibit - activity place for Lee.

In the exhibit area, they have presented the 125 pieces of Buddy Dolls.  Lovable dolls dressed up in denims showing the age and experience of Lee.  Along with it are some collection pieces  and art work done for and by the company mentioned above.  Celebrating its 125 years in the clothing industry, Lee decided to go on a tour around the world to show and share their creations to the denim-loving public.  Let us face it, you have a piece of denim in your closet, may it be in the form of jeans, jacket or skirt.  Denim is one staple clothing in everybody's closet and will be in someone else's closet in years to come.

Since I came in way too early, I will skip the time spent seated and chatting with a stranger and simply go on to the actual event.

6:00pm
The doors are now officially opened and guest and media people are now ushered in to their seats.  Since the show is to start an hour later, the organizing group was thoughtful enough to have a little cocktail area so that people can do some chit-chat with friends and collegues while enjoying some light food.  (Word of caution for some attending this type of event for the first time; the food may be light but in big quantity it is like having a dinner plate already.)

A few minutes before 7:00pm, voice over can be heard announcing that the event is about to start in a few minutes.

7:00pm
To open the whole activity, the crowd was graced with the wholesome personality of Bianca Gonzalez. After a few introductions and a telling of the history of Lee, she then transitioned the whole spill into the fashion show segment.  Before I forget, she also pointed out that the do-it-yourself booth is open to all Lee afictionado and her skirt for the night is a product of the said booth.  The skirt is actually good on her.  Slitted at the front and back, it has a black tulle underneath making an illusion of a full skirt.  In reality, it is a full skirt made radically fashionable to those with the right attitude.

The show really began with the entrace of the dancers hired for the event.  They were good!  Energetic, dynamic and flexible!  The very same qualities that Lee is known for.  I even mistook one of them as a model (even if she is built as a dancer) for she has an interesting face plus the way she carries her denim top shows what Lee is all about.  The performance of the Philippine All Star was quite superb!  Perfect entrance piece for every segment of the whole fashion show.

The show it self was graced by both local and non-local models.  With their own beauty and grace, they presented all the pieces in perfect form.  Showing the versatility of denim under the hands of the people of Lee.  I was also pleased to see Katarina of ANTM S2 (Asia's Next Top Model S2), as part of the models for the night.

7:45pm
The show has ended and the exhibit was made open for all to see and enjoy.  I was hoping to see more but knowing how a fashion show goes and after seeing 3 new collection line from Lee, it was a delightful night indeed.  3 new designs showing the future that Lee is going into.

It was truly a night worth to be part of the Philippine Fashion Week.  An event to cap the tour celebrating the 125th anniversary year of Lee. A night of fashion and passion above, under and beyond the rainbow.
