Sparks Camp, After Two Seasons - My Thoughts

So after two seasons (S2 is coming to a close as of this writing), this show has truly captured the interest of people. Ano ba ito (baka may magtanong pa)? Ano pa na ba kundi, SPARKS CAMP - the only reality dating show featuring the lives of males in the LGBTQ community in the Philippines.  Congratulations to the whole team of Black Sheep PH for a successful season! *applause*

Eto na nga! Oo na. Wiz na sa pormalan ngunit kung maging pormalan at nasa vernacular ang pagkakasulat mamaya ay intindihin niyo na lang. Char!

Maraming kaganapan ang S2 tulad ng S1. Andoon ang kilig, inis at even pagiging patola ng mga followers. Something na very true sa saying na "if it's not broken, why fix it". Well definitely S1 was not broken but they did one hell of a level-up in terms of the usual spice of kilig and inis.

Comparing the two season is like comparing an apple sauce to an apple butter. Same thing in its basic but one is more finer and thicker in flavor. Kung hindi mo gets ang food reference, sorry but yun ang naisip ko habang sinusulat ito. Sa gets ang reference , congratulations at knows mo ang food mo! 

Parehong season may "I don't like him" character. A mantle not worn by one alone but by a good number of participants this S2. An element that can be easily missed but once napansin ng nanunuod ay mapag-iisip sya. Kasi hindi ba reality show ito. Meaning yung ganap na ayaw mo sa camp ay yun din ang nagaganap sa ginagalawan mo. Either guilty ka or victim ng mga galawan na yun, nagaganap sya talaga. Ikaw ba ang lalaban sa speed dating (free for all dating move) o ang appreciate one?

Usapang red at green flags naman (very new gen LoL). Ang isang noted difference ng S2 from S1 ay ang strong projection ng red flags ng participants. When I say projection, I meant nothing more but the editing done on the raw material. The selection of segments to show a reflection of the gay society is so defined and crafted that the strong green flag holder is ignored due to possible sensual and sexual factors which is actually true! This move made it more relatable, sa totoo lang.

Mas reflective sa katotohanan ang ginawang season ngayon ng Sparks Camp. Mas heart wrenching to a point that any sensible viewer will pause and reflect.

One thing na maintained ay ang mga lessons that people should cherish. Lessons such as friendships/bonds formed, love is always there one just have to be open to it and when a door closes a window will open (Z & M scenario).

How I met Allianz PNB-SOS-LoavesxFish In One Day

This time around it goes into a more positive presentation of the code without losing the essence and purpose. Meet Scholar Of Sustenance (SOS) - The food rescue foundation.

SOS is a non-government organization geared for two distinct things:

1. Save food thus lessening food wastage and;

2. Help community food -providing groups continue their purpose of elevating the lives of others thru healthy food a meal at a time per day.

Operating on a near continuous calendar, SOS is in partner with various non-government organization and private corporationsin helping out save food coming from hotels and restaurants from going into dumpsters and converting it into new dishes for communities that needs assistance. Such was my first encounter with them when I partook in the reach-out community activity with Allianz PNB - SOS & Loaves X Fish. 

A whole morning event that started with a meet & greet in the workplace of Loaves X Fish located at Filinvest City in Alabang. From there, we were encourage to help in the preparation of meals for the recipient communities scheduled that day and the next day. Technically it was all hauling and lifting on most part for me since I was left below while the majority of those invited went upstairs to do some shredding. The exciting part was when the chef of LxF started showing how to plate-up the food to be distributed that day. On this part, I can saw that it paid off staying at the kitchen cause I get to see Chris Cabognason (Allianz) and LxF founder Joseph Yap (former ambassador of the country to Singapore) working together in plating the meals. Along side them are various people from Allianz, SOS and me forming a production line of sort so as to finish the targeted number of food packs for the community.

Travelling time comes next. From Alabang to somewhere in Bicutan/Taguig area, we get to meet the community under the wing of Parokya ng Ina ng mga Dukha. It was fun! The ladies of the parish were gracefully waiting for us (we were a bit delayed) and helped in the distribution and keeping all the kids in order. Besides documenting, I was playing "butler" to some people (kids and adults alike) since it was raining and I have my umbrella with me.

I really appreciate the fact that corporations are helping out and started being part of such activities such as Allianz PNB. They not only help communities thru funding but also encourages those within their group and outside to be part of this beautiful partnership - journey in heart fully aiding people in need.

This reminded me of all the outreach/immersion program I had during highschool in San Beda College (then, now it is a university)plus those I had when I was working . It was a beautiful day.

Kublai Millan Presents "Land of Premise" at The Art Gallery of The Manila Hotel

I haven't wrote anything for quite a time! A good number of things happened. Some good, some challenging and some simply passed by like a ghost.

What's new and what up? Honestly, IDK! LoL!

This time around, I will be writing about things I seldom, if not refuses, to write before. We are talking about fashion, beauty and the likes.

Wag Daw Si Leni, Bakit Nga Ba?

Bakit Nga Ba Wag Si Leni?

Sa dami ng nagaganap na usapan tungkol sa mga kumakandidato para sa pagkapangulo ano nga ba ang dapat mo malaman para makaboto ng tama? 

Una, ano ba ang hanap mo o ang ayaw mo?

Madami nagsasabi na mahina ang babae. Napatunayan na ng dalawang dumaang pangulo na babae na wala naman daw nangyari na pagbabago. Panay coup de etat at pag aaklas lang. Magulo at mahirap pa din.  Teka, bakit nga ba ganoon ang mga nangyari? Isa-isahin natin.

Nang naging president ang yumaong Corazon C. Aquino ay kakagalling lang natin sa isang pamumuno na hindi kaaya-aya kung kaya nakilala ang bansa dahil sa People’s Power Revolution – No Violence Revolution.  Ibig sabihin, madami na ang may ayaw sa namumuno at nagaganap kaya pagbabago ang hanap.  Ibig pa din sabihin, madaming kailangang ayusin at baguhin.  Galing sa isang pamamahala na korupsyon ang nagaganap.

Nang panahon naman na nanungkulan si dating  president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, galing tayo ULIT sa isang rebolusyon o ang kinilalang, People’s Power 2 na kung saan pinatalsik sa pwesto ang dating presidente na si Joseph Estrada.  Dahil sa lantaran at nagsusumigaw na korupsyon, kumilos muli ang mga tao ng isang demonstrasyon para bumitiw sa pwesto si Estrada.  Magulo ulit. May mga dapat ayusin.

Ngayon naman, madami ulit dapat ayusin dahil tayo ay nasa pandemya pa. 

     

Babae, bakit sinasabi na mahina ang babae? Kasi umiiyak? Kasi sabi ang lalake ang dapat kumikilos para sundin ng babae? Kasi ang ego mo ang nagsasalita?

Kung mahina ang babae, bakit nagagawa niyang pagdaanan ang 9 na buwan na pagdala ng isang buhay sa loob niya at iluwal ito? Kung mahina siya, bakit nagagawa niyang patakbuhin ang isang bahay ng maayos – may pagkain, maayos, may malinis na damit, alaga sa bata, gumawa ng pagkakakitaan at gawin ang tungkulin bilang asawa? Multitasking ika nga. Yan ba ang mahina? Para mo na din sinabi na ang ina, lola, tiyahin at kapatid mo na babae (kung meron man) ay mahina din.

Lutang o lugaw daw si Leni o mas nakilala na Lenlen.

Lugaw kasi yun ang nakitang binibigay na paagkain sa mga nasalanta. Lutang kasi ang pamamaraan ng pagsasalita niya ay hindi tulad ng naririnig mo madalas, lalo na nitong nakaraang anim na taon.  

Aminin man o hindi pero aang lugaw ang isa sa simple NGUNIT masustansyang pagkain na meron tayo. Mabigat sa sikmura at sa konting materyales o ingredients ay magagawa mo makapagpakain ng isang grupo. Busog at nainitan ang sikmura.  Isang bagay na kailangan ng mga taong nasalanta.  Kahit ikaw, ang isang mangko ng timpladong lugaw ay mabubusog ka. Kung may sakit ka ay lugaw ang pinapakain, dahil madali itong lunukin at iprocess ng katawan na may dinadaing. Ano ba ang madaling iluto ng mga nasalanta, lugaw di ba?

Lutang kasi ang sinasabi ay mali-mali.

Mali-mali ba siya talaga o sadyang iba lang ang nadinig at intindi mo? Sa panahon ngayon na ang daming nagkalat na sabi-sabi (Age of Marites / Marites in the New Frontier) hindi katakataka na madaming napapaniwala sa sabi-sabi.

Bakit nga ba wag si Leni??

Si VP Leni ang naupong bise president na nagawang maging alam ng madaming Pilipino na may malalapitan sila sa gobyerno at hindi lang ang kanilang LGU. Nagawa niyang ilunsad ang iba’t ibang proyekto pangkabuhayan (Angat Buhay) na kung saan ay naghahatid ito ng programang pangkabuhayan sa tulong na din ng ilang pribadong kompanya.

Andyan ang pabahay na proyekto na sinasagawa sa mga taong nawalan ng tirahan ng dahil sa bagyo o di kaya digmaan (Marawi 2017). Kasama sa Angat Buhay program niya ang pagbigay ng tamang training o dagdag kaalaman at kagamitan para sa ikauunlad ng kabuhayan ng mga mangingisda, naghahabi, magsasaka pati mga hindi nakapagtapos ng mataas na aralin.

Sa opisina niya ay madaming kwentong nagsasabi na suntok sa buwan lamang ang kanilang ginawang paglapit. Mga paghingi ng tulong na hindi inaasahan na mapapansin at bigyan sagot. Mula sa medical assistance to burial  pati na din para sa buhay ng komunidad.  Mga pagtawag na agarang nakakakuha ng sagot. Mas mabilis pa kaysa LGU na kanilang unang nilapitan. Isa na dito ang naging karanasan ng isang komunidad sa isang isla na sakop ng Palawan.  Walang kuryente at namumuhay lamang sa pagharvest ng seaweed. Pakitandaan na ang seaweed ay isang export item ng bansa.  Dahil sa opisina ng OVP, sa ilalim ni VP Leni Robredo ay nagawan na malagyan ng solar panels ang komunidad na yun sa isla kung kaya nagkaroon ng pagbabago ang kanilang pamumuhay at industriya.

Lahat ng ito na nababangit ko ay bago pa ang pandemic. Oo, bago pa ang pandemic ay kumikilos na ang OVP at si VP Leni na magbigay tulong sa mga tao, lalo na ang mga nasa laylayan.

Wag din natin kakalimutan ang mga agarang pag-abot  tulong niya sa mga nasalanta ng bagyo, iba pang natural disasters (Taal explosion at earthquake sa North Cotobato)at sunog.  Etong nailista ko ay mga bagyo noong kasagsagan ng pandemya (double disaster ika nga)

Lahat ng pagtulong niya ay naisagawa kahit na naging maliit ang budget ng OVP. Oo nga pala, hindi ko na sinama ang mga nagawa ng opisina niya nitong pandemic dahil mas maganda na makita  mo ang nagawa niya maliban doon.

Handa siyang makinig at unawain ang iyong sinasabi  kung kaya, kahit hindi na niya sakop, dahil hindi naman siya ang may gawa ng programang rehab sa mga biktima ng Typhoon Yolanda ay binigyan niya pa din ito ng pansin lalo na ng ito ay nasalanta muli. Dahil alam niya ang halaga ng bawat isang Pilipino.

Bakit nga ba wag  si Leni? Kung ang rason mo ay dahil lang sa mga nalaman mo na kwentong papasa sa usapang kutsero ay dapat magbasa-basa din ng iba pa. Kung ang rason mo ay dahil sa babae siya, ay isipin mo ang babae na nakapalibot sa buhay mo at baka dahil sa babae kaya ka buhay ngayon. Teka, baka naman babae ka kaya ayaw mo ng babae.

GHOST MONTH / HUNGRY GHOST MONTH FESTIVAL, ANO ITO?

 

Isa sa kaugalian ng lahing Chinese ay ang pag obserba ng sinasabing Hungry Ghost Month Festival. Ito ay nagsisimula sa unang araw ng ika-pitong buwan ayon s a Lunar Calendar (HINDI GRECO-ROMAN CALENDAR).  Tuwing Hulyo – Septembre ay ang sinasabing Petsa de Diablo na masasabi dahil sa panahong ito pinakakawalan ang mga kaluluwa ng yumao ng dahil sa aksidente, sakuna o sa kahit na akong hindi normal na mamaraan kung kaya hindi sila pwede pang mabuhay  muli (reincarnation).

 

Ayon sa ilang pinaniniwalaang alamat sa Tsina, ang unang araw tuwing ika-7 buwan ay siyang kaarawan ng hari ng impierno, base sa Taoism, kung kaya binubuksan ang pintuan nito para magbakasyon ng pansamantala ang mga kaluluwa.  Sa Buddhism naman, ito ay ang panahon na kung saan maaring magkaroon ng oportunidad ang mga buhay na tulungan ang mga kaluluwa na mabawasan ang kanilang panahon ng paglilinis.  Dahil na din sa iisang lahi lang umiikot ang dalawang nasabing relihiyon, ang alamat ng isa at ng isa ay nagsama at siyang nakikitang kasanayan ngayon.

 

Sa paglipas ng panahon, ang dating sa mga Instik lamang ngayon ay binibigyang pansin na din ng ibang lahi tulad nating mga Pilipino. Lalo pa na tayo ay may sinasabing China Town sa Manila.

 

Ano-ano ba ang mga inoobserba patungkol sa Hungry Ghost Month Festival?

 

Para sa mga purong Intsik o di kaya Chinoy o nasama sa isang pamilyang Tsino, ang pag-alay ng isang meal (hindi lang isang putahe ito. Mula starter hanggang dessert.) ay ginagawa.  Sa paglipas ng panahon ito ay naibaba sa dalawang minatamis (dessert) na alay – isang bagay na praktikal at hindi gaaanong magarbo.  Bakit kailangan mag-alay ng pagkain?  Kaya ito nasabing “hungry” ay dahil walang pagkain sa mundong kanilang kinalalagyan.  Ang pag-alay ng pagkain ay isang pasabi sa kaluluwa na “ito ay bigay ko. Kung ikaw ay kakain nito ay wag mo kaming bigyan o gawan ng anumang kalokohan o kamalian”.  Ito din ang isang dahilan kung bakit may nakikita kayong alay na pagkain sa puntod ng mga Tsino.

 

Wag papasok sa kung ano mang bagong usapin, gawain o endeavor.  Dahil Hungry Ghost Month, hindi ito ang panahon na kung saan ang mga ninuno na gumagabay sa atin ang siyang umiikot.  Ito ay mga kaluluwang hindi pa linis sa kanilang mga nagawang mali ng sila ay buhay pa.  Mga kaluluwang maloko o may poot ito na masasabi. Ang pagpasok sa isang bagong gawain habang Ghost Month ay sinasabing maaring maging mabigat o di kaya ay maudlot dahil sa kagagawan ng kaluluwang mapagbiro o may galit.

Sinasabi din na bawal mlalabas ang mga bata, matatanda at buntis sa panahon na ito dahil maari silang paglaruan ng mga kaluluwang gumagala.  Sa panahon na ito (pandemic due to CoVid-19) ay kainam-inam na sundin ito para na din sa pansariling kaligtasan.

 

Pag-aalay ng dasal.  Ito ang isang bagay na lalong pinagpapatuloy sa panahong ito, ang pagdarasal.  Sa mga Buddhist, ang pagdarasal na ginagawa ay para sa ikalilinis ng kaluluwa para ito ay umakyat ng antas.  Pumapasok din dito ang pagsindi ng tamang dami ng incense pagkagabi, para wag gawan ng masama ng kaluluwang umaaligid sa mga panahong sakop sa Ghost Month.

 

Sa mga templo o plaza, may iba’t-ibang ganap na makikita. Isa na dito ang mga palabas patungkol sa mga diyos ng China.  Ito ay isang paraan ng pagtawag pansin sa mga diyos na bigyang awa ang mga nasabing kaluluwa at bantayan ang mga buhay mula sa mga mapagbiro at mapagpoot na mga kaluluwa.  Isa sa naging kaugalian dito ay ang pagsuot ng maskara na nakakatakot ang desenyo. – isang practice na nakikita natin tuwing Halloween na kinuha din naman ng mga Simbahang Katoliko sa mga druids.

 

*para sa mga practitioners tulad ko, ang pag-obserba ng sinasabing grace period before and after the ghost month ay mahalaga.  Ito ang sinasabing 3-5 days before and after the Ghost Month.  This is to make sure that all the negative energy that is building up before the opening of the Gates and closing are totally dissipated and that positive energies are at flow.*
