FOOD REVIEW: YAKIKAI Fusion Restaurant

With all the huff and puff of restaurant popping in the metro, trying it all out is such a drag at times.

Just a few steps away from the main buzz of Tomas Morato is a restaurant that speaks of good food, service and just plain comfort.  Just opened this 2019 of December is YAKI KAI – a Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant that is aimed to give you the best of both worlds, food wise.  Yaki means “to grill” and KAI means together, so whenever you are here you simply grill together. Cute right?  It gets better.

Situated along Sct. Dr. Lazcano is a residential unit converted into a food place giving it a homey ambiance thus making your dining experience worthwhile, may it be with your family or friends.  This is truly stress-free for when I was there, a family stepped out smiling; just a sign that they enjoyed their dinner.  Here is a grilling place that make use of both charcoal and gas.  So if you want to simply grill, go for the main dining where in they make use of gas; now if you want a grilled meat with additional smoke flavor then go for the 2nd floor dining space for they make use of coals. Why have two styles of grilling, you might ask?  Eto lang yun . . .para sa kaligtasan ng lahat.

Masarap ba?

Kung mahilig at marunong ka mag-ihaw (meaning you have patience.  Yes, Patience is a virtue so applicable in cooking.) then multi-tasking (chika while grilling) is but a breeze.  You can also enjoy a good line of maki always made available.  For those with allergic reaction to crustaceans (hipon at crabs) then here is a chance for you to have a plate full of maki without the fear of having an allergy attack.  They have a chicken and corn maki! That is truly something new for me. J .  They also have baby (marble) potatoes, meat barbecue, ebi, pasta and rice that you can enjoy.  They also have a revolving selection of kimchi that you would be tempted to try since neither is available at the same time.  Babalik ka para tikman yung iba.  For those that doesn’t like the heat of the classic kimchi then you will definitely enjoy the raddish kimchi.  It is cooler and quite a match to the meat that you will be dining on.

The meat served comes in the classic meat flavors prevalent in all grilling place in the metro.  The difference is in the cuts that they place in front of you.  All thinly cut and beautifully veined, showing the beauty of the meat.  The thinness and evenness of each meat slice allows you to cook it faster and all at the same time.  All meat served is fresh and beautifully plated for you to appreciate before throwing them unto the grill.  The seasoning may be a little mild for those who are used to the authentic Korean flavors which is bold by nature.   Have no fear for you may still enjoy it with but a little help from the staff.  Just wave friendly.  Bawal ang kaway kaaway.

So masarap ba?

Oo.

Yes.

Si.

Ok na? Gets?

Masarap kumain dito.  Maliban sa bago, you will definitely comeback for more.  The service is good.  The place is relax and comparable to dining at your own house – may other tables lang.  The meats served are all of good cuts and quality.  The maki’s are all made the same day and refreshed when the need arises.  The stew is quite flavorful yet not overpowering when eaten alongside the grilled meat.  The items served for grilling ranges from pork, chicken and shrimps.  Yes, hipon.  Hindi yung tao but yung hipon na totoo.

You have to try their meat slab!  Make sure that you grilled it the right way to truly have that juicy goodness and not a dry course meat.  The best way for me is grill it whole then cut it without taking it out of the grill.  With a quick toss and your grilled meat slab is ready for consumption.  They also have a nice selection of ice cream, from the usual melona to Greek yogurt based frozen treats.  From so called starters to desserts they have it here.

Yummy!

Come here at Yaki Kai Fusion Restaurant located  at 122 Sct. Dr. Lazcano in Quezon City.  It is just a few steps from the ever dynamic street of Tomas Morato.  With its clean and bright interiors and courteous staff, you will definitely feel that you are always welcomed.
